Application for Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agency License Starts
The National Revenue Authority (NRA) wishes to inform all Clearing and Forwarding Agencies and the General Public that following the certification of Clearing and Forwarding Agents, application of their Agencies will commence from 1st to 30th November 2017.
As a result, all existing and new Agencies that meet the underlined requirements are hereby advised to apply to the Commissioner-General for fresh licenses.
The applicant must:
a) be a resident in Sierra Leone;
b) be a registered business entity under the Laws of Sierra Leone;
c) have a permanent business address in Sierra Leone with facility to access the operating software system used by the Customs Services Department;
d) have at least three employees one of whom is a qualified Customs Clearing and Forwarding Agent certified by the Commissioner-General in accordance with criteria set out by the Licence Committee;
e) have a Bond Guarantee of Twenty Million Leones (Le20Million) from a reputable commercial bank or such other value as may be prescribed by the Commissioner-General at both initial registration and renewal; and
f) not have been convicted of a criminal offence by a Court of competent jurisdiction;
Application letters must include evidence of the under mentioned documents:
a) Taxpayer Identification Number;
b) Current Tax Clearance Certificate;
c) Valid Business License;
d) Business Registration Certificate;
e) Statement of Business Address.

Please note that any Clearing and Forwarding Agency without a valid license by 1st January, 2018 will not be allowed to operate.
