Expired Beer Destroyed at Gbalamuya Border Post

Expired imported beer and other items have been destroyed at the Gbalamuya joint border post in Kambia.

According to the Manager of Outstations, Customs Services Department, a physical examination conducted on a truck coming from Guinea at the border post on January 15,  2016 revealed that the entire 3,302 cases of ‘Brewer Strongest’ beer in the truck was expired.

The expired beer was destroyed on February 22 in the presence of the importer, police and military personnel, the media and other stakeholders to prevent it from being smuggled into the domestic market.

Other expired items seized in 2015 were also destroyed.

It should be noted that border control and maintaining products standards are key functions of the NRA through the Customs Services Department.
